ARRL
Field
Day 2005
W7DRC

Field Day is always the fourth full weekend of June, beginning at 1800
UTC Saturday and ending at 2100 UTC Sunday. Field Day 2005 will be held
June 25-26, 2005. Our club station will again operate using our
club
callsign
W7DRC
For the Dixie Amateur Radio Club, all activities will take place at
Santa Clara City’s Canyon View Park. We have reserved BOTH pavillions
for the weekend. This is our opportunity to
showcase Ham Radio.
Canyon View Park is located on the east side of Canyon View Drive just
north of
Santa Clara Drive (in St. George City this road is Sunset Blvd.). The
Park entrance is located near
Little League Drive (approximately 1400 North). A map to the park
location can be accessed by clicking
on
THIS
LINK. You can enter your starting location (i.e. your home) for
"door to door"
driving directions. The map can zoom in or out using the "zoom" control
on the left. You can also "drag" the map to move around the area.
This year we will have two amateur radio station positions operating
with at least one of the stations
active continuously the entire contest period. Both stations will
be available
as SSB (voice) stations and one station will be available for Morse
code (CW) operation as needed. All classes of hams can operate
the
stations on the HF bands, including Technician class operators who are
encouraged to try out HF operating. Even unlicensed
individuals with an interest in amateur radio can try their hand at the
microphone and make some contacts, with appropriate coaching and
supervision.

Other
items to be discussed at this month's club meeting are the following:
Field Day Preparations
Field Day Operator Sign-up
Logging Software Training Session
Technician Class Instruction
Schedule and Sign-ups

Message
From the President:

This
year is moving right along. At present to us is one of the most visible
activities we have each year to showcase our interesting hobby as well
as its core public service elements, to the general public. We
need the participation of all of our club members to truly make this
exercise a success. We need to make sure everyone of all license
classes are able to operate the station(s) and get confortable to some
degree and learn to function with grace under pressure in the heat of
Field Day bedlam on the HF bands. This
is a good exercise to learn to tweak one's ears to hear weak signals
and signals pulled out of QRM
We are planning on a dinner at the park on Saturday evening at 7:00
P.M. Details on Field Day activities will be provided at the club
meeting.
Please come to the club meeting this week to learn. Then participate
and volunteer! This
is YOUR club!
