   Washington County ARES
The Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) is a nationally organized group of over 35,000Federally licensed Amateur Radio operators who  have voluntarily registered their services and formed an organized pool of operators to provide reliable primary and secondary communications links for governmental agencies and/or non-profit organizations when needed.  Local groups participate under the "umbrella" of the national ARES organization which is administered as part of the American Radio Relay League, the National Organization fro Amateur Radio.
 
Locally the Washington County ARES group serves Washington County, Utah and all Municipal agencies within Washington County.  WCoARES  also serves the St. George Marathon, The American Red Cross, the Huntsman World Senior Games and any other non-profit organizations upon request.

Greetings to all DARC amateur operators:
 
Thanks to those of you who provided ARES applications at the last DARC Meeting.  Due to the large numbers of operators who have moved in, moved out or just relocated, in the past two years, I am asking for your updates if you wish to begin or continue participation in ARES.  This information will be used for organizational planning and training events with ARES.
 
Additionally, I have been asked to provide a list of those operators who are eligible and willing to participate in county emergency operations.  This will be included in the planning and exercise program.
